PRIME: Expository writing and argument development for grades 6-12

Drawing on the exciting work of George Hillocks and his transformative 2011 book Teaching Argument Writing Grades 6-12, this workshop will focus on expository writing and argument development in line with Common Core expectations. The workshop will help teachers learn how to instruct students in these skill areas by modeling and practicing argument analysis and reasoning.

About the Instructors: For the past four years, Marlowe Miller and Dina Bozicas (both faculty members in the English department at UMass Lowell) have been working on literacy skills and college readiness skills with high school faculty in Math and English through a grant funded by the Mass. Dept. of Higher Ed.
