Comas is firmly rooted in Irish music, but with enough space to allow in original compositions. Open to new influences, but with a respectful eye on the past is what brings Comas to the forefront of what traditional music is about today. When you hear Comas you will know that their choice of a name was no mere accident it translates from Irish/Gaelic as "power". Their own driving power, coupled with a fine sesitivity for the inner strands of magic inherent in Irish music, is exactly what this band is about.
The bandmember's pedgrees are prestigious and international. Fiddler, Aiden Burke from Ireland shares the same DNA and upbringing as his legendary cousin Kevin Burke. Belgian guitarist, Philip Masure's unique style has made him widely sought after as a master teacher and studio musician. On flutes and uillean pipes, Isaac Alderson, was named All-Ireland Senior Champion on three insturments (uillean pipes, flute & whistle). Bodhran player, Anna Colliton currently teaches advanced bodhran at the Irish Arts Center in New York City.
Comas has been featured at major folk and Celtic festivals in the US, Canada, and Europe; including Old Songs, The Philadelphia Folk Festival, Celtic Connections (Scotland), Festa de Carballeira (Spain), Ennis Trad (Ireland), and Folkwoods (Holland). And now they are coming to Morristown New Jersey!
