"No-Nonsense" Leadership Academy         40 Hours

Target Audience:  All Staff - Sworn & Civilian 

CURRICULUM:    Being a leader in today’s work environment is not easy.  With continuing change and non-stop demands the best supervisors must have the skills necessary to be effective in their new role.  This academy is designed to help those that are in positions of leadership to hit the ground running while developing and honing the skills they need in their leadership roles.   This academy will also impart high level leadership insight, strategies and wisdom to the participants which will give them the ability to make better decisions and proactively handle conflict to increase their overall productivity with their teams, their peers and those in management or command staff.  This intense and indepth academy program will cover the following topics: 

   "No-Nonsensense" Leadership Academy Syllabus:

Day one:  Leadership basics and the need for effective leadership: 

  • Define leadership and examine truths and wisdom that accompany effective leadership.
  • Types of leaders and the power of the informal leader.
  • The 5 stages of leadership development that will make you a well-rounded leader.
  • The six types of power available to a leader and how not to abuse them.
  • Compare and contrast the different focuses of management vs leadership on a daily basis.
  • Identify leadership pitfalls to be avoided.
  • Character vs Reputation in leadership.
  • Leadership Behavioral Assessment Review.
  • The unique value your bring to the organization as a leader.
  • Your preferred do’s and don’ts of communication.
  • The power of perception – How others see you under pressure.

Day two:  Leadership Skill Building Express:

  • The power of decision making
  • Understanding the power of delegating authority and how to delegate effectively 
  • Identify barriers to effective decision making and delegation
  • Understanding the dynamics and phases of building an effective team.
  • Know the purposes of personal and professional relationships in the workplace
  • Leadership Driving Forces Assessment Review
  • The motivators  and driving forces behind your behavior

Day three:  Leading Difficult People and Obtaining Positive Results:

  • What  are the things that make people difficult.
  • Lens of Behavior - Understanding the intent and drive of behavior.
  • The 10 most unwanted people - Don't become one as a leader.
  • The costs and consequences of ignoring toxic people and toxic behavior.
  • How to have those difficult discussions and crucial conversations with difficult people.

Day Four: - Leadership and Workplace Politics:

  • The Reality of Politics in the Workplace – A No-Nonsense Reality Check.
  • Levels of Workplace Politics.
  • Building and cultivating leverage – Every effective leader has it.
  • Recognizing the political opponents in the workplace.
  • Understanding the games in play and how you should respond, not react.
  • Understanding the four political behavior styles in the workplace.
  • Discerning where the real power is when change is taking place.
  • Building your leadership political game plan .

Day Five - The Power of the Emotionally Intelligent Leader:

  • Political Savvy of the emotionally intelligent leader.
  • Things to do to increase your political savvy as a leader.
  • Avoiding the path to career suicide.
  • Understanding the components of Emotional Intelligence and how it helps a  leader.
  • The power of emotions on the leader and their effect on those around them.
  • Review of Emotional Quotient assessments and implement strategies to increase each participant's emotional intelligence

  • Add value to their teams, their management or command staff, and the department overall.

ATTIRE:  Business professional. No shorts, t-shirts.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:  Anyone presently in a leadership position, those newly promoted to leadership, or those that are simply interested in understanding what it takes to be an effective leader in today’s changing work environment.  If you have already taken parts 1 and 2, you do not need to take this agai.  This is simply the full 40 hour course

REQUIREMENT:      Student must complete (2) two online assessment prior to the class.  The assessment link to complete will be sent via email approximately 10 days before the class after payment has been received and enrollment has been confirmed.

TUITION INVESTMENT:  Early bird price of $799.99 is valid until the date shown above.  After the above date, the cost to attend will be $899.99.  Seating is limited to the first 20 students due to the intense content provided and level of  engagement promoted in this training workshop. 

INSTRUCTOR:  Coach Lisa BS, CPBA, CPEQA, CPDFA CPTA, CPDA, CAMS-II and CEO of No-Nonsense Training Solutions, is a graduate of the Florida State University with a B.S. in Psychology.  She holds certifications as a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst, Certified Anger Management Specialist and is an Adjunct Professor with Broward College IPS.  She has successfully trained and coached hundreds of Corporate, Non-Profit, Government staff and leaders as well as Law Enforcement personnel, sworn and civilian staff and command staff personnel for over 10 years.

Cancellation Policy:  Class registrations are not confirmed until payment is received in full.  Deadline to cancel and receive a refund for this class is November 20, 2017.   If enrollee has completed the assessments and/or cancels less than 14 days before the training date, they will be rescheduled to the next available training for this class or date of their choosing.   Student substitutions are accepted for last minute changes.
