Building a Financially Resilient Water/Wastewater Utility
The Western Piedmont Council of Government in North Carolina is hosting a presentation by the Environmental Finance Center at the UNC School of Government to utility managers and governing board members on building a financially resilient water and wastewater utility. Financial management of utilities requires much more than setting a balanced budget. Considerations for changes in revenues and local economic conditions, rising costs, and long-term capital costs and planning all affect the viability of a local government’s Enterprise Fund. This session will include basics of Enterprise Fund management, strategies to ensure financial resilience, and share information on the newly-created Viable Utilities Program of the state of North Carolina.
