This highly interactive workshop openly explores ethical issues that massage therapists routinely face in their professional and personal lives. Through a dynamic mix of lectures, discussions, small group exercises, and self assessments, students will explore an array of topics.  Students will learn:
  • maintaining client safety, confidentiality, and satisfaction
  • managing communication skills
  • establishing and communicating boundaries
  • navigating transference and countertransference
  • incorporating self-care and strategies to avoid burnout

Advanced Techniques

After introducing hundreds of therapists to "The Magic of Hot Stone Massage" workshop, we listened to your requests and developed an advanced class to expand your skill set. Focusing on the use of stones with Deep Tissue Massage, we will explore techniques to all regions of the body with a special section on side-lying approaches. Hosted by the beautiful Pinehurst Resort and Spa, we will keep with it's strong golf tradition and include working with conditions that all golfers encounter.   Students will learn:

  • to work safely and effectively with deeper intent
  • techniques to musculature that includes the iliacus, piriformis, latissimus, tibialis posterior and other intrinsic muscles  
  • approaches to common conditions encountered by athletes/golfers
  • side-lying techniques
  • body mechanics to optimize pressure levels while avoiding injury
This is the only date scheduled for 2011. Register now as space is limited.  

 

About the instructor

Eric Stephenson, LMT, NCTMBericheadshot

As Director of Education for imassage, Inc., Eric creates continuing education focused on career longevity for massage schools, spas and professional organizations nationwide.  He is a former lead instructor of the Body Therapy Institute in Silk Hope, NC and The Lexington Healing Arts Academy in Lexington, KY, helping in the design of the hands-on massage curriculum. He has completed The Spirit of Learning®, a 90-hour massage educator-training program. 

His presentations have included the American Massage Therapy National Convention, The International Spa Association Conference, The World Massage Conference and AMTA state conventions.  Eric is a regular contributor to Massage Magazine.

Payment and Refund Policy: Registrations for workshops are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.  You may register with a full payment – OR – a minimum 50% deposit (when registering by phone).  The remaining amount is due 14 days prior to the workshop.  You may cancel your registration up until seven days prior and receive a full refund of any monies paid, less a $25 processing fee. Any cancellations received less than 7 days prior to workshop will not be refunded or credited.

Discounts:  Only one discount may be applied for each registrant.   Register 30 days prior to the workshop and get $20 Early Bird discount.   Bring a friend or co-worker and you each save $20 off your total.  Current massage school students may attend these courses and save $50.  Registrations that include the bring a friend or student discounts must be made by phone.
