Finding Hope, Humor & Heart in Caregiving:    Strategies for Caregiver Survival

Elaine K. Sanchez is an author, speaker and co-founder of CaregiverHelp.com, an online  caregiver support program.  She is the author of “Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver” and the Caregiver Help Blog.  She and her husband, Dr. Alex A Sanchez have developed a number of online continuing education courses for mental health professionals that are hosted on the website www.PDResources.com.

Elaine has been approved as a trainer for long-term care workers in the State of Washington by the Department of Social and Health Services. She conducts webinars and hosts semi-monthly virtual support group sessions for Aetna and CVS employees. She writes freelance articles for a number of magazines and online publications.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS 

CEUs will be offered to healthcare professionals.

*Must register as a healthcare professional for $150 to be eligible for CEUs.

*There will be a $5 processing fee for all refund requests. 

Registered Nurses:  Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area and Our Lady of the Lake Ascension Professional Development are joint providers of this educational event. Our Lady of the Lake provider unit 1020 is approved as a provider of continuing professional development by the Louisiana State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

6 contact hours has been submitted for approval for registration, attendance of the entire program and completion of the post program evaluation. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Clinic Education Center and Alzheimer’s Services of Capitol the Area are co-providers is this Nursing Continuing Education Program.

Social Workers: 6 clinical hours of continuing education have been approved by Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, which is recognized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners as an approved provider of continuing education.

Nursing Facility Administrators: 6 hours of continuing education has been approved by the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners of Nursing Facility Administrators.

Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists: The Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology has pre-approved 5 hours of continuing education in a related area.

Occupational Therapists: 6 hours of continuing education have been submitted to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Activity Therapists: 6 contact hours have been submitted to the NCCAP for Certified Activity Directors & Certified Activity Consultants.

Physical Therapists/Physical Therapist Assistants:  6 clinical hours of continuing education have been approved by the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board.

Other Healthcare Disciplines: A certificate of attendance will be provided to present to respective licensing boards.
