The Changing Face of Dementia: Innovations in Care-2018

Join the Humboldt Senior Resource Center and the Dementia Care Coalition as we welcome Dr. Elizabeth Edgerly, from the Alzheimer's Association, Dr. Jennifer Heidmann from Redwood Coast PACE and Cyn Aguilar from Cloney's Pharmacy  for an update on the latest in dementia care and treatment as they address "The Changing Face of Dementia: Innovations in Care - 2018."

Course Overview

This conference is designed to provide healthcare and assisted living professionals with cutting-edge updates in the research and best practices for the care of persons with dementia syndromes. Speakers will provide an overview of the latest Alzheimer's disease science and care, including symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, risk factors, prevention, and causes. They will also present effective approaches to managing dementia-related behaviors, and best practices for successfully communicating with persons with dementia. The conference will include an update on public policy gains, opportunities on the state and national level, and current trends in research.

Continuing Education Credits

We are offering 6 CE units/hours for the following certified license entities RN, LVN, LMFT, LCSW, NHAP, RCFE.

The Dementia Care Coalition

The Dementia Care Coalition is a group of professionals, community members, and business owners who are all dedicated to a common mission, which is essentially creating a more dementia competent community. Our community formed the Dementia Care Coalition in 2007.

Dementia Care Coalition Mission Statement

We envision a community in which people with dementia and their family members get the right information and care at the right time, where medical clinicians identify memory loss early in the process and make appropriate referrals to supportive services, and where people with dementia and their families can continue to be active and engaged community members. We recognize that Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia are long-term, chronic conditions that do not yet have a specific cure but  need ongoing management.
