August 11th: Blogging Basics

Why Blog? Businesses are using blogs for many reasons. At the top of the list is search engine optimization, but there are many other ways to use a blog to enhance your business or personal goals. We'll discuss all the ways you can benefit from blogging.

What Blogging Platform Should I Use?  The workshop will focus on the Wordpress platform, but if you have a blog already established on one of the other platforms, much of what we will discuss will apply to all blogs. 

The Nitty Gritty: Uploading photos, inserting hyperlinks, setting up categories, tags, plug-ins and more features to optimize your blog. 

What to Write About: Where do post ideas come from? How long should a blog post be? How do I find "my voice"? What if I'm not a good writer? Writing for a blog is very different than any other professional writing. We'll discuss the ways you can communicate with your readers that will make your blog interesting and "sharable."

Attracting Readers: Syndicating your posts, listing on search engines, trading links, and inviting guest bloggers are just some ways to attract readers and keep them coming back. We'll discuss all the tricks of the trade for attracting visitors to your blog.
