February 2018 Luncheon Meeting

,

Changing the Cybersecurity Conversation

Speaker: Wes Stillman, CEO, RightSize Solutions

Meeting Description

This session will provide a high level education on who cybercriminals are, and why they are focusing on advisors and their clients. We will focus on the top cyber-attack methods, including phishing and ransomware, and provide advisors with actionable tips to help prevent, detect, react, and raise awareness around cyber-attacks. Advisors will leave with a better understanding of how to better protect both themselves and their clients.

Wes will be offering a more positive approach to how RIAs can proactively respond to the call of cybersecurity by putting the power and responsibility in the hands of the advisor. This interactive session offers improvements to four core business areas with fifteen best practices a firm can immediately benefit from.

Learning Objectives:  • Grasp a holistic view of the emerging cyber threat environment and how they can use security policies to deter vulnerabilities. • Understand the motive behind cybercriminals and why RIAs and their clients are at risk • Identify several common cyber methods and attack surfaces. • Understand how different personal computing devices get hacked, including personal computers and smart phones. • Develop an understanding of phishing and social engineering, and why human error is the single biggest risk to cybersecurity. • Understand the various risks and costs associated. • Understand the costs, both financial and reputational, of being a victim of an attack. • Walk away with actionable steps on how to improve their firm’s cybersecurity..
