Keynote Speakers
Professor Glenn Gibson, University of Reading: Glenn researches acute and chronic gut disease, novel prebiotics, human metabonomics. Specific projects on pro/prebiotics, the molecular genotyping of gut bacteria, H2S production, gastroenteritis in sportspersons, metabolic syndrome, IBS, IBD, gut flora development with age and colonic homeostasis are being carried out.
Dr Nathalie Juge, Institute of Food Rearch: Nathalie's research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning gut bacteria-mucus interaction. Her reserach group employs a combination of genomic, molecular and biochemical techniques to investigate the mechanisms by which microbiota bacteria recognize and degrade the complex host glycans.
Dr George Tzortzis or Dr Jelena Vulevic,Clasado Research Services: Developers and manufacturers of clinically proven health solutions which improve and enrich the quality of people’s lives: amongst these is Bimuno®.Established in 2004, a global company with sales across four continents and operations across three. Through extensive research and innovation programme they are rapidly establishing themselves as leading experts in the field of gut mediated health, addressing local (IBS, IBD, gut microbiome, protection from pathogens) and systemic (metabolic syndrome, immune system function, cognitive function) conditions.
VitalSix and Acumentia work together to provide the opportunity for businesses, academics and researchers to learn more about the challenges faced with bringing new research and technologies to market in the food & life sciences industry.
