Choose Life: Deuteronomy's Message for Today

The book of Deuteronomy is a central text containing key themes that shape the Old Testament and itsrelationship to the New. In this study, we will explore the historical, literary, and theological contexts forunderstanding the message and content of Deuteronomy, its influence on other Old Testament texts,and its connections with the New Testament, especially the teachings of Jesus. Deuteronomy presentsits readers with rich theology, spirituality, and perspective on how to live as God’s people that continuesto have importance for us today.

Dr. Steve Schweitzer, a frequent presenter for SVMC, is the Academic Dean of Bethany Theological Seminary.  He is a biblical scholar, enjoys the intersection of Science Fiction and Theology, and attends the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren.
