Centennial Commemorative Brick

Torrance Centennial Plaza at El Prado Park

For just $150, you’ll be able to assist with the Plaza construction and get to personalize your brick by engraving up to 3 lines with 16 characters per line.  The bricks will be an integral part of the Centennial Plaza where a 100-year time capsule will be housed.  The 3 5/8” x 7 3/4" bricks will be laid in walkways within the Plaza.  The goal is to complete construction no later than August 2012.  It is expected that a dedication ceremony and community parade will be held in September 2012.

The Centennial Plaza will be set in historic El Prado Park, which is part of the original Olmsted Brother’s design, and was a driving factor in the selection of the location.  The plan includes visual elements of the Southern Pacific Railroad Bridge and adds both a tribute to the City’s rich past while offering a vision of an exciting future.  The Plaza provides a unique opportunity for the community to be part of history by purchasing a commemorative brick.  The deadline to order is May 1, 2012.
