Launching and Executing a Day of Giving at Your Institution

A campus-wide Day of Giving program can be a highly effective way to bring together students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends to support your institution and build a strong base of donors. Participants can engage in 24-hours of activities and actions that bring them closer as a community and encourage each other to support the future of your Institution. But before “the Day”, there is a lot of thought, planning, and engagement that has to happen by staff, leaders and volunteers.

In this webinar from the Gonser Gerber Institute, we will hear from Muhlenberg College who instituted their first Day of Giving campaign in 2013. Their goal was to attract 910 donors, and their results were 1,430 donors and $212,616.98 raised! (Plus - the most activity the Alumni Facebook page and Twitter handle have seen in a single day!) Join us as we learn how Muhlenberg Fund staff attracted their greatest number of donors and unrestricted dollars in a single day with a 7 to 1 ROI, hear their approach - in detail - from conception to execution, and discuss how their campaign evolved in subsequent years, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Topics include: benchmarking, goal setting, campaign marketing (including video production and social media tactics), volunteer recruitment, campus buy-in, results analysis, lessons learned and plans for future years.

The fee is $295 per institution, which allows your entire team the opportunity to participate in this professional development at the same time. If you are a current client of Gonser Gerber Advancement Consulting, that fee is just $145. You will also receive a copy of the presentation and a recording of the webinar with your registration.

Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg is a highly selective, private, four-year liberal arts college located in the beautiful Lehigh Valley of eastern Pennsylvania. The College took its present name in 1867 from Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, patriarch of the Lutheran Church in the American Colonies.

Muhlenberg aims to help students become independent critical thinkers who are intellectually agile, characterized by a zest for reasoned and civil debate, knowledgeable about the achievements and traditions of diverse civilizations and cultures, able to express ideas with clarity and grace, committed to life-long learning, equipped with ethical and civic values and prepared for lives of leadership and service. The College offers 40 majors in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences, in addition to strong pre-professional programs in such areas as pre-health, pre-law, pre-theology, business and education.

Muhlenberg affords its students an unusual degree of freedom and responsibility, both within the academic program and in campus life. The Muhlenberg experience is characterized by a deep sense of community and connection, intense student-faculty relationships and collaboration; small classes; passionate teaching and active learning; and powerful outcomes in terms of graduate school and entry-level career placement.
