Teal Mini Swap 2015

Designed by Beth Helfter, EvaPaige Quilt Designs, Teal Mini Swap is an annual event intended to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, funds for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, and give quilters and sewers a fun little swap. I welcome Black Fabrics as my official sponsor this year, Blank has proven to be a leading voice for ovarian cancer awareness in the quilting industry and I am thrilled to have them aboard. They have donated a bolt of a lovely tone on tone teal fabric, and each participant will be given a piece to use in their project.

This year participants have a choice of making either a mini quilt (18" square maximum) or a mug rug (10" square maximum). Be sure to check your preference on the registration!

The cost to participate is $15 for US registrants, and $18 for Canada residents, of which $10 per participant will be donated directly to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund during the first week of September. The remaining funds will be used to offset administrative and shipping costs. I do apologize for having to charge our Canadian friends more, but I'm just happy to be able to officially include them this year!

Event timeline:

  • August 15 - 29 - Registration open
  • August 29 - September 2 - Behind the scenes envelope stuffing and mailing of packets to partcipants
  • September 2 - September 30 - Celebrate Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month by creating a mug rug for your swap partner and mail it by the October 2 deadline.

For more information, check out and join our "Teal Mini Swap 2015" facebook page, where we'll be able to post photos of our mug rugs as we receive them, and the informational blog post "Two for Teal Almost Here!"

The fine print: Unfortunately, there are two small caveats to participation.

  1. Because of the astronomical cost of shipping anything larger than a cake crumb outside of the US borders, I have to limit this swap to those with a US or Canada postal address only. I am sorry. I love all people everywhere and wish I were made of money so that I could afford to have this be international!
  2. Registering means you are committing to making a mini for a swap partner within the month of September and mailing it to them by October 2. Please check your calendars and make sure that this is possible for you before signing up. We don't want disappointed swap partners!

Hit that cute little button down there to register! I'm excited to have you aboard!
