Come with us to the
Faith & International Development Conference!

February 6-8, 2014

What is FIDC?

The Faith and International Development Conference (FIDC) brings together students, faculty, practitioners in the field, and others interested in effective, justice-based international development. This year's theme is "Cultivating Community: A Right to Belong". There will be speakers, workshops, representatives of agencies working in the field, and plenty of chances to network! Plenary speakers include:
  • Brian Fikkert, author of When Helping Hurts and founder of the Chalmers Center, will speak about the church's role in proclaiming the acceptance that comes in Jesus Christ and in living it out through community development work.
  • Rob and Tara Cahill will speak about their work in Guatemala with Community Cloud Forest Conservation and how cultivating a healthy environment preserves the places God has provided for people to belong.
  • Minas Hiruy, founder of Hope Enterprises, Hope University College, and Hope Ministries, will speak about how making a place for street kids in Ethiopian society proclaims to them their right to belong. He will also speak about how students can find what God is calling them to do and their place in His Kingdom Community.
  • Tarek Abuata will speak about his work with Christian Peacemaker Teams in Palestine and about cultivating communities and proclaiming the message of belonging in the midst of deep-seated conflict.
