Topic: Agile at Alias
Speaker: Kevin Tureski
This presentation highlights the rationale behind the adoption of sustainable software development and agile development methodologies by Alias beginning in 2001. The transition experience, benefits and challenges are discussed for a very large and complex existing product (MayaŽ) and a very small new product (SketchBook ProŽ).
About the Presenter
Kevin Tureski has over 25 years of experience leading the development of best-in-class 3D computer graphics products. Kevin joined Alias Research Inc. in 1987 and held a variety of engineering positions, including ten years as director of engineering for MayaŽ and nine years as director of engineering for PowerAnimatorŽ. On March 1, 2003, Alias|Wavefront was honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with an OscarŽ for scientific and technical achievement for the development of Maya software. Kevin and Alias president Doug Walker accepted the award on behalf of the company. In 1988, Chris Landreth’s “Bingo” received a Genie Award from The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television; as co-producer, Kevin was a co-recipient of this award. Prior to joining Alias, he was a systems administrator and production programmer at the Toronto headquarters of Omnibus Computer Graphics from 1984 to 1987. He graduated with an Honours B. Math degree from the University of Waterloo in 1984.
