Land of Sky Regional Council is pleased to host the first ever WNC Stormwater Summit on October 14 and 15, 2014 at the NC Arboretum. The Summit will feature innovative stormwater practices, and applicable design, installation, operation and maintenance suited to our region. Technical experts will discuss long-term benefits and costs, regulatory requirements, and new techniques for treatment and retrofits. Featured speakers include The Center for Watershed Protection, sponsored by the Pigeon River Fund.
Who should attend: Engineers, landscape architects, planners, code enforcement,
stormwater and public works professionals.
This year the WNC Stormwater Summit will feature the Friends of the River award banquet on the evening of October 14th and we expect to have between 100-200 in attendance for the Summit and Awards Banquet. FRIENDS OF THE RIVER GUEST SPEAKER:
Stephanie Pace Brown is the Executive Director of the Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau, leading a staff of 23 to attract overnight visitors to Buncombe County, North Carolina. Prior to joining the Asheville CVB, she served as President and CEO of the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association in Alexandria, Virginia. Brown directed marketing and public affairs efforts for Mount Vernon, including advertising, media relations, special events and group sales. In addition, she has extensive background in tourismrelated marketing and economic research having worked as Research Manager for the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism and as Director of Customer Research for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Brown is currently a trustee on the board of the Travel & Destination Foundation and has also served on the US Travel Association Board of Directors, Research Advisory Committee and Marketing Outlook Forum Committee as well as on the Travel Industry Association of America’s National Council of Attractions and Speakers Bureau.
