Cancellation Policy

For all course registrations, the following cancellation policy applies.:

Cancellation/change outside of 45 days of camp start date = full refund less $15 admin fee.

Cancellation/change within 45 to 16 days of start date will result in a 50% tuition credit of the remaining registration fee towards a course offered by Frog Prints e! within the same calendar year.

No refund or credit available after within 15 days of start date of class.


 

FPE & CWB STEM Robotics & Sail Camp 

In partnership with The Center for Wooden Boats, the 2019  Summer STEM Robotics & Sail Camp is a fantastic opportunity for middle school girls, ages 10-14. The STEM/Sail Camp is two weeks of scientific investigations, games, sailing, and fun!

WHAT is a STEM/Sail Camp?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Sessions will include: Underwater robots design and building, the physics of sailing & how sailboat design influences underwater robotic design,  Robot Races, and sailing El Toro wooden sailboats!

Who can attend? 

Middle school girls, rising into 6th through 8th grades. Classes limited to 12 campers.

When is it happening?

Monday-Friday, August 12 - August 23
Camp Hours are 9 AM - 4 PM
(8:30-9:00 is drop off and 4:00-4:30 PM are supervised pick-up times)

Learn to Sail!- August 12- August 16
Week 1:  Participants learn how to sell an El Toro wooden boat using the elements of knot tying, line handling, safety on land, trim, ballast, buoyancy, and applying the forces of wind and current while sailing.  Students need to be prepared to go out rain or sun; bring an extra set of dry clothing. 
 

Underwater Robots Build & Design: August 19 - August 23

Week 2: Participants learn how the physics of sailboat design influences underwater robotic design, how to build and integrate various systems of the robot together as engineers would, and then test their robots out on Lake Union while create videos of the bot's adventures!  In addition participants learn about the history of underwater exploration, create bathymetric charts to simulate navigational contour maps, and do hands on experiments with sound reflection & refraction.

  • Waiver: A signed liability and photo permission waiver must be completed by first day of class.  You can download the waiver form here.
