York District Chartered Accountants Association CPD Seminar 

 

An informative CPD session on Thursday November 21, 2013 organized by York District Chartered Accountants Association (YDCAA).

  • Improvements to Not-for-Profit Standards by Peter Martin, CPA, CA, Accounting Standards Director, CPA Canada and Accounting Standards Board member. Mr. Martin heads up the Board’s staff of 15 people, and is responsible for organizing staff support to the Board and its associated working groups.  Prior to becoming the Director in 2004, he was involved with developing a number of Canadian standards as a project manager.  He has more recently focused on developing and implementing the Board’s strategic plans that involve separate sets of GAAP standards for publicly accountable enterprises, private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Intergenerational Tax Planning; Transferring Wealth to the Next Generation by Phil Friedlan, J.D, MBA, of Friedlan Law. Mr. Friedlan has been a lawyer and tax practitioner for more than 25 years.  He is a member and former Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation, as well as a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  For several years, he also served as the Co-Chair of the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Ontario Tax Conference. Phil is a frequent and in-demand guest speaker called on to share his expertise on tax and legal issues for various organizations including CALU, the Canadian Bar Association and American Bar Association.

Proposed schedule: 

  • 6:00 pm - Registration
  • 6:15 pm - Dinner
  • 7:00 pm - Presentation by first speaker
  • 8:00 pm - Presentation by second speaker
  • 9:00 pm – Conclusion

Cost: $50 per person (includes dinner)
