About IPR

The Institute for Public Research supports civilian government agencies in justice, public health, emergency response and other critical fields. Federal, state and local leaders rely on CNA’s independent analysis as they address their most difficult challenges, from eliminating racial bias in policing and to preparing responders for natural disasters and epidemics. The Institute for Public Research was founded more than 25 years ago, when researchers who had analyzed the airspace over carriers began to analyze the airspace over the entire United States for the FAA.

Introductions by:

David Kaufman, Vice President and Director, Security and Safety Division, CNA Institute for Public Research

This session builds on the Berkeley Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity and the World Economic Forum Centre for Cybersecurity’s collaborative research initiative Cybersecurity Futures 2030.

How do current cybersecurity frameworks hold up to the challenges of the future? What are the potential gaps in our knowledge? What are the possible courses of action for governments, citizens, and the private sector?

This session will explore these questions and other major themes that emerged from a series of cybersecurity workshops held in the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa, and South Asia over the past year. The workshops, which engaged participants from academic, intelligence, military, political, and private sector backgrounds, were based on exploring four scenarios and points of view about the cybersecurity problem set in 2030.

This event will offer you a unique opportunity to gain insight into how key practitioners and experts around the world view the evolution of cybersecurity, including their perspective on how US policy-makers and other regional actors might react. Participants will glimpse key issues shaping global cybersecurity strategy in the coming years: what choices will be required; what values may emerge; what collaborations may form; and what important new tensions and disagreements should be expected.
