HMA Pavement Smoothness Best Practices Webinar - May 28, 2020

Back by popular demand and now in a convenient, on-line platform, CalAPA is pleased to present a special class on Best Practices for Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Smoothness. The class will offer a brief refresher on how pavement smoothness is measured followed by an in-depth review of opportunities for smoothness improvement and best practices to construct smooth pavements. From sub-grade preparation and material production and handling through paver and roller operations, every aspect of roadway construction that potentially influences smoothness will be discussed, along with reasonable expectations for what can be achieved at each step of the process. What you don't know can cost you!

Instructor Mike Robinson (pictured), a paving consultant who formerly worked for Caltrans and private industry, will bring his  engaging style and real-world examples to this lively class. This seminar is an outgrowth of the highly popular presentations he gave at CalAPA Asphalt Pavement Conferences. This class complements his asphalt pavement specification class.

NOTE: This class will be delivered in remote "LIVE STREAM WEBINAR" format only. There will be no in-person class location. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation and have them answered during the class. A link to participate in the class remotely via computer will be sent separately to all registrants. All atttendees will also receive via e-mail an electronic certificate of completion documenting that they have completed two (2) Professional Development Hours (PDH) of technical instruction. Participants will also receive an electronic copy of a handy class workbook, which contains all slides, and a glossary of terms and acronyms defined.

Who should attend? This class is ideal for asphalt pavement contractors, public works paving crews, supervisors, inspectors and others who care about delivering a quality paving job.
