Social media has become important in our professional lives as well as our personal. LinkedIn, the business-oriented social networking website, is useful for keeping in touch with business associates, clients, and former colleagues.

Are you using it to its fullest? Can you use it in other ways to grow yourself professionally and help your organization to network more effectively?

In this evening event, we'll explore how to use LinkedIn for professional and career development, including how you can use it for networking, recruitment, and keeping up with trends and news in healthcare.

Objectives - At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • List the basic components of a LinkedIn profile
  • As a Quality Leader, identify Linked-In groups that support a Healthcare Quality community to foster commitment to Quality
  • Identify and engage quality stakeholders using Linked-In
  • Create an action plan for personal profile improvements

Session attendees should plan to bring a fully charged Windows-based laptop for use during the session.  A beginner-level LinkedIn profile is welcome but not required.

Deanna Dwyer has a passion for pediatric healthcare and knows the power of a smile and a word of encouragement. She is the Director of Marketing at Franciscan Hospital for Children. In this role she oversees marketing strategy and execution.  Integrating all the marketing communications disciplines, she’s grown to become a respected spokesperson and brand ambassador.  In recent years, advancing the hospital’s social media presence has been a critical initiative, allowing the marketing team to extend their reach in a resource-lean environment.  Using LinkedIn as a relatively new tool, she’s subscribed to the “learn by doing” philosophy and has been able to combine platform best practices with principles in personal branding.
