TRACKS

  • Track 1 Suzuki Book 1&2 and Beginning Band, mornings only (with Amy Heritage)
  • Track 2 Intermediate & Advanced, full day (with Joel Tse)
Joel Tse teaches intermediate and advanced flute track

Special guest Robert Johnson of Flute Specialists will

present a flute repair & care workshop. Additional workshops for everyone in yoga and breathing, music and movement, and for younger students flute crafts and stories. A concert performed by the students concludes the workshop on Friday. 

 

FACULTY

  • Joel Tse, principal flute for the Toledo Symphony and flute instructor for the University of Toledo 
  • Amy Heritage, TSO second flute and Suzuki flute instructor

AGES

Suitable for elementary age students through adults. There are two tracks to choose from. Minors (under age 18) will need to have a parent or guardian complete and sign a permission/medical consent form.

TUITION
Track 1 – $150/week (mornings-only workshop)
Track 2 – $300/week (full day workshop)
Attending just a few days? $65/day for attendance of less than 5 days 

UT Student Discount - 1/2 PRICE! Only $150 for the week (Track 2) (must provide UT Rocket# when you register)

DAILY SCHEDULE (subject to change)

9:30 AM Arrival/Registration

10 AM  GET MOVING! (All students)

Daily classes in Breathing and Yoga, Movement and Music
 
11 AM    FLUTE FUNDAMENTALS with Joel Tse (Intermediate & Advanced Flutists)
MASTERCLASS with Amy Heritage (Beginning Flutists)

12 PM  SPECIAL TOPICS (All students) to include:
Flute Repair Workshop with Robert Johnson of Flute Specialists
Practice Makes Perfect! (separate workshops for parents and flutists)
Flute Crafts (pan flutes, veggie flutes, flute stories, etc.)
           Flute Excerpt Class (Performers selected by application.)
           
1 PM LUNCH (On Wednesday, visit the Flute Specialists display of instruments and music.  Robert Johnson will be available to make adjustments to your flutes (at no cost).
 
AFTERNOON CLASSES FOR INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED STUDENTS
2 PM Master Class
 4 PM Flute Choir 
5 PM Dismissal

FRIDAY CLOSING CONCERT (All students)
5:30 Closing Recital in Recital Hall   FREE ADMISSION
 All events take place at the UT Center for Performing Arts
 
* Lunch is not provided.   Lunch is available for purchase on campus and for delivery to the music building (Jimmy Johns, Subway), or bring your own lunch.  A refrigerator and microwave are available for use.  We recommend that students bring $7-10 each day if purchasing a lunch.  Wednesday is Pizza Day.  Bring $5 for pizza or bring your own lunch.  Track 1 students are encouraged to stay for pizza and visit the Flute Specialists exhibit of music and instruments.
 Students in Suzuki Flute Book 1 and 2 (beginning to 2nd year flutists) should enroll for morning only classes 10 am to 1 pm.
