Health Care Supply Chain Planning in a Pandemic

The pandemic outbreak in early 2020 caught most people off-guard.  Outbreaks of emerging diseases had occurred in recent past (Ebola being an example) but they (thankfully) never got to global pandemic proportions.

Medical supply vendors, going increasingly to JIT production and inventory levels, were not prepared to supply millions of healthcare workers with as many as 60 masks, gowns, gloves and face shields per day…each.

The idea of sending healthcare workers out without PPE wasn’t an option, especially because in early 2020 there was still a lot unknown about the virus, how it transmitted, and what it could do.

But, by utilizing the resources we had available (and a lucky break by having a brand new and yet-to-be-filled warehouse down the street), we were able to successfully navigate the pandemic to keep our caretakers and patients safe.

The long days and frenzied purchasing in the Spring of 2020 were unforgettable and the lessons we learned will be used to plan for the uncertain future.

There is no charge for this event, but you MUST have a Zoom link to attend.  This link will be furnished to registrants by email at the completion of their registration.
