Supply Chain Strategy – Converting Strategy into Action Through Effective Project Mgt

Joint Meeting with ASCM/APICS Massachusetts Minuteman (MM), Western MA, Northern New England, New Haven Chapters, and ASQ-New Haven, Southern Ct Sections

The world has witnessed a crisis in supply chains shortly after the pandemic started.  Indeed, the pandemic has exacerbated the observed disruptions, however, the supply chain crisis cannot be blamed on the pandemic itself. It has exposed some fundamental flaws in supply chain strategy, and the weak links between strategy & execution. The supply chains strategies pre-pandemic were not designed for resilience against major disruptions, and shifts in consumer behavior.

In order to build resiliency in their supply chains, the organizations must first identify their vulnerabilities, and then establish a strategy to build new capabilities that can address the gaps. Post-pandemic supply chains have realized the value of digitalization in its transformation journey.  Digital transformations of supply chains must be approached from three levels.

  1. Supply Chain Strategy: Establish a Digital Supply Chain
  2. Convert Strategy into Action: Develop a Digital Operating Model, Establish a Transformation Roadmap, & Prepare Project Portfolio
  3. Execute:  Define & Execute Projects in the Portfolio

Neeraj Shah, Director Global Clinical Supply Chain Technologies, BMS, will share his insights on the skills needed for developing strategies, for transforming supply chains, converting strategy into action & execution, through effective Project Mgt.
