Tulsa Interfaith Alliance 2015 Russell Bennett Award Celebration

Please join us for our 2015 Russell Bennett Faith and Courage Award Celebration.

Our evening begins at 6pm with a reception and silent auction, followed at 6:30pm by a delicious buffet-style dinner featuring meat and vegetarian options.  While finishing dinner, we will have a brief annual meeting starting at 7pm that will include a treasurer's report, report from the Executive Director, and election of new board members.

We will have a special appearance by Rabbi Jack Moline, Executive Director of the national Interfaith Alliance.  Rabbi Moline will talk about national issues affecting our work, including the recent rash of states passing legislation legalizing discrimination in the name of religious freedom.

Following this, we will honor this year's award recipient, Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Sr. Minister at All Souls Unitarian Church.  (Press release announcing Rev. Lavanhar's selection.)

Tickets for the evening are $30/person.  You are also invited to include an additional donation of at least $25 for an annual membership (individual or family) with the Tulsa Interfaith Alliance.  Your membership donations are used to fund our work monitoring the separation of church and state, and highlighting the good that people of all faiths (and no faith) bring to Tulsa.  As our primary source of funds, we ask you to please be as generous as your budget will allow when purchasing a membership.

This year, we've added a silent auction to our festivities.  As you are hopefully already aware, our major project for this year has been (and continues to be) working with Tulsa's Human Rights Commission to have Tulsa recognized as a Compassionate Community by the International Charter for Compassion Committee.  Part of the work of compassion involves intentionally seeking to understand those who might be different.  With that in mind, we have asked our Board of Directors to either donate or find someone to donate items of a cross-cultural nature, specifically those that help us understand cultures other than our own.  If you have an item you would like to donate to our silent auction, please contact board member Janice Nicklas via email at nicklas1@cox.net.  (The silent auction will be open until 15 minutes before our business meeting.)
