Blackened Salmon Tacos w/ Citrus Salsa

 Blackened Salmon Tacos

  • 8 corn tortillas
  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on (about 6 oz. each)
  • 1 teaspoons cumin
  • teaspoon smoked paprika
  • teaspoon cayenne (omit or decrease for a mild flavor)
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • Olive oil

Citrus Salsa

  • 4 assorted oranges, peeled and segmented
  • red onion, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • Handful of fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • Juice of lime
  • Olive oil
  • Sherry vinegar, or whatever you like
  • Dash of chili powder or smoked paprika
  • Salt and fresh pepper


First, make the salsa: in a serving bowl, put your orange segments, onion, jalapeno and cilantro. Toss with the lime juice, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. Sprinkle in a little chili powder or paprika if you want, and taste to adjust the seasoning.

 In a shallow bowl, mix together cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pat seasoning mixture onto both sides of each piece of salmon. In a large skillet, heat about 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Place salmon in the hot oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip salmon with a spatula. Cook for about 5-6 more minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
