Fall Foliage Photography Workshop 

After scorching temperatures this Summer, I think everyone is ready for Fall to be upon us.  We aren't quite there yet, but we are planning for our annual Fall Foliage Photography Workshop.  We are excited about this year's workshop as we are moving the date up a little and depending upon when the leaves turn this year, possibly exploring some new ground.  Wilson Reynolds and Brett Wells will be leading the workshop and we are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as making some new friends.  To see images and reviews of our past workshops, please visit our Tremont Blog.  If you would like to keep up with the happenings at Tremont Outdoor Resort and f/32 Photo, please like our respective facebook pages!

Here is a general breakdown of the weekend.  Registration information and info on what to bring is at the bottom of the page!  

*Once you have registered, if for some reason you need to cancel, your registration fee for the photography workshop will be fully refunded minus a $10 processng fee as long as we recieve notice of your cancellation by October 12, 2012.

Friday, October 19th- 7pm-9:30pm

We will meet in the Rec Hall at Tremont Outdoor Resort for a meet and greet to get to know everyone we will be spending the next 2 days with.  This is the time we'll get to know your skill level, what type of equipment you will be using, and what you would most like to get out of the workshop.  We will work out carpooling arrangements and talk about equipment that you are welcome to borrow for the duration of the workshop.  Of course refreshments will be provided!

Saturday, October 20th

8:00am-9:00am - For anyone interested, we will either be meeting for breakfast at a local restaurant or gathering in the Rec Hall for breakfast before heading off to our first excursion.

9:30am - 5:00pm - Location photography in the Park.  Due to not knowing what the leaves will do this year (will they turn early like everything else has done this year, or late?), we don't know exactly where we will be going at this time.  However, we will have locations scouted closer to the workshop time.  Depending upon the color and opportunities, we may split into two groups at some point in the weekend.  One group for some hiking into some locations and the other group sticking closer to the road with less hiking.  If we do split into two groups, you will be able to choose which group you go with.  Regardless, we will find some spectacular scenery:)

6pm-9:30pm - Image evaluation with BBQ dinner.  We'll meet back in the Rec Hall at Tremont to review your images, eat a yummy dinner, and discuss the plan for the next day.

Sunday, October 21st

8:00am-9:00am - Breakfast for those who are interested.

9:30am -3:00pm  - Photographing in the Park

4pm- Close and evaluation.  We'll meet in the Rec Hall one last time to evaluate images and answer questions.

Workshop Cost

If you are staying at Tremont Outdoor Resort on Friday, October 19th and/or Saturday, October 2oth, the cost for the workshop will be $150 per person (spouses who tag along for the ride are not charged:)).  If you are staying somewhere other than Tremont Outdoor Resort, the cost for the workshop is $250 per person.  Snacks for evaluations and the meet and greet are provided as well as dinner on Saturday evening.  All other meals are on your own.  Transportation into the National Park for the workshop sessions is also on your own, but we do recommend carpooling which can be arranged at the meet and greet.  It not only saves gas, but it's much more fun!  We will have walkie talkies in each car so that we can stay in contact and no one gets lost or left behind. 

Accommodations at Tremont Outdoor Resort

If you choose to stay at Tremont Outdoor Resort while attending the Fall Foliage Workshop, we have several different types of accommodations.  You may choose from an RV site, a tent site, or one of our 4 different types of cabins.  For descriptions of cabins, please visit our website at www.tremontcamp.com.  For this particular workshop, we are discounting our Standard and Premier cabins for participants.  Premier cabins will be $190for two nights with an extra night at $95 if you would like to stay.  Standard cabins will be $160 for two nights with an extra night at $80.  Discounted rates for other types of accommodations will also be given to workshop participants, just ask for these when you call for reservations. For anyone participating in the workshop and staying Friday and Saturday nights checking out on Sunday, checkout time will be extended to 7pm (or later if needed)  on Sunday with our compliments due to the finishing time of the workshop.  To make your reservation, please call 865-448-6363 and be sure to tell them if you are participating in the workshop.

Equipment to Bring

Digital SLR cameras are recommended, but not required.  If you have any of the following equipment, please bring it with you - a tripod, a wide angle or fish eye lens, a 24-70mm lens, a 70-200mm lens, a circular polarizer, a light meter, and an umbrella or rain gear.  Again, this equipment is not required, but is recommended if you have it.  Also bring your laptop along if you have one.  Be sure to wear comfortable, yet sturdy shoes (preferably hiking boots or shoes) as we have a tendency to wander off the beaten path from time to time :).  If you have walking sticks that you use when hiking, bring those as well.  We will have tripods and an assortment of lenses for Canon and Nikon bodies that you are welcome to try and use throughout the workshop.  If you do not have any or some of the above recommended equipment, don't worry, we will work everything out.  Also, one of our instructors, Brett Wells, is also our Sigma representative, so he will have a variety of Sigma lenses on hand for participants to try.
