And the ACEs Have It…
Facilitating Healing, Resiliency and Hope for Trauma and Addiction
With research suggesting that as many as 90% of individuals with addiction, behavioral health challenges and those with intellectual or developmental disabilities have experienced trauma at some point, trauma has become an almost universal experience in the lives of those we serve. The resulting complex array of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges can be difficult to identify and address. This lively and interactive training guides you through the effects of trauma on brain development, functioning and its role in addiction. It provides the tools needed to recognize trauma and its impact on behaviors in multiple life domains. You will learn the three R’s of Successful Trauma Resolution (Re-experience, Release and Reorganize), as well as the top five resilience factors found in people who move beyond their traumatic life experiences without numbing them with substances or recreating them. These same resilience factors will be used to help those of us who work with trauma survivors address the effects of vicarious traumatization. Learn applications that anyone can apply and ones specific to your role. This approach works well with individuals with and without addiction of all ages, developmental ability levels and even those with early pre-verbal trauma.
