What:  A band is a group of 3 to 5 men or women who meet together weekly to support one another, pray for one another and encourage one another to become the love of God for the world.  Now is a great time to begin a band of your own as we are so in need of encouragement from one another.  Also, bands are easy to gather together virtually!  For more details about what a band is, visit www.lhumc.com/groups or www.discipleshipbands.com.

Weekday Groups for Women

Seek First the Kingdom of God

What:  As Christians, we’ve become confused about power, rule, and rights. We’ve joined the world in constructing our own little territories while forgetting about the kingdom God has built and continues to build. But to find the truth about our citizenship, we must return to Jesus’ parables and stories in the Book of Matthew, where He spoke of God’s kingdom often. Join Christine Hoover in this 8-session study to reorient yourself solidly around the kingdom and the King who gives life in abundance. If you’ve ever been disappointed by the unfulfilled promises of your false allegiances, if obedience has ever felt like shackles to you, or if you’ve wondered where you belong in the story God is writing, there's good news for you: Jesus is a benevolent King who gives.

 When:  Saturdays, January 8 - February 26 ~ 10:00-11:30am

 Where:  The New Room

 Led by Pamela Clark

 Cost: $16

He’s Where the Joy Is

What:  It's hard to know a God we don't understand, and it's hard to love a God we don't know.  But our God wants to be known and loved, and He’s told us a lot about Himself in the pages of His Word.  Join Tara-Leigh Cobble in this 7-session study as she breaks down the intimidating doctrine of the Trinity. You'll discover a beautiful, foundational view of our Triune God that will transform how you relate to God. Understanding God's three-in-oneness and each of the Persons of God individually—Father, Son, and Spirit—will lead you to deeper intimacy with God and greater joy in knowing Him!

 When:  Wednesdays, January 12 - February 23 ~ 7:00-8:30pm

 Where:  LHUMC Bride’s Room

Led by:  Lindsey Parker and Gretel Roberts

 Cost: $16

Encountering God

What:  Spiritual disciplines are essential to a more vibrant spiritual life and knowing God more intimately.  Join Kelly Minter in this 7-session Bible study as she unpacks the biblical foundation for these sacred habits along with approachable ways to practice disciplines like prayer, study, worship, rest, simplicity, generosity, celebration, and many more. Instead of being just one more thing on your to-do list, you’ll find that these habits of faith can actually create more margin in your life—providing peace and rest as you walk closer with Jesus.

 When:  Thursdays, January 13 - February 24 ~ 10:00-11:30am

 Where:  A117

 Led by: Susan Solomon

 Cost: $16

Take Courage: A Study of Haggai

What:  Do you ever feel like the happy ending of your story is a million miles away?  Then you know how the Jewish people felt when they returned to their wrecked land after exile and began rebuilding the temple. They were distracted, discouraged, and ready to throw in the towel. But the prophet Haggai reminded them they could find courage in the God who had never left them.  God’s presence and promises give us courage to press on and trust Him with our story.  In this 7-session study on the Book of Haggai, learn to walk confidently in your calling, stay motivated despite opposition, and courageously invest your life in God’s purposes, trusting Him for results you may never see in this lifetime.

 When:  Thursdays, March 3 - April 14 ~ 10:00-11:30am

 Where:  A117

 Led by: Susan Solomon

 Cost: $16

Ephesians: A Verse by Verse Study

What:  During the Lenten season, join us to read through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (one chapter a week). No homework is required besides reading the text! We will simply share our thoughts and encouragements with one another as we invite God to transform us through our reading.  Paul's letter to the Ephesians reminds us of the hope, peace and overflowing love we have in our relationship with Christ.

 When:  Wednesdays, March 9 - April  13 ~ 7:00-8:00pm

 Where:  LHUMC Bride’s Room

 Led by:  Gretel Roberts

 Cost: $16

Weekday Groups for Men

Gospel of Luke: A Verse by Verse Study

What:  Luke is serious about Jesus and serious about making sure everyone can meet Jesus. In his carefully written account of the life of Jesus, Luke goes to great lengths to make sure that his audience knows that the outcast, the poor, the sick, the non-Jews, the women, and the children all have equal access to Jesus.  Luke also wants to make sure we know that the Holy Spirit is at work in bringing people to Jesus!  Join Pastor Andy for a chapter by chapter, phrase by phrase, verse by verse, word by word study of the Gospel of Luke as we encounter the risen Jesus together!

 When:  Fridays, January 21 - April 8 ~ 6:30-7:45am

Where:  LHUMC Fellowship Hall or Zoom Online Meeting

 Led by Andy Roberts

 Cost: None
