WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Imagine 2000 people simultaneously sharing an intimate dinner with a few neighbors. Imagine tantalizing food and even more--intriguing stories. Imagine the happy excitement you feel when you connect with a new friend.

Magical things happen when people get together for a meal. They eat. They talk. They connect. In a time with many opposing points of view, we need meaningful dialogue and respectful spaces to come together as neighbors. This is what we are hoping to create with The Big Table.
We are looking for 250 Table Hosts and 25 Volunteers

Table Hosts
As there will be no stage or PA system, the magic of this event is in the interaction at the table...and Table Host are the key to that magic! As a Table Host, you will fill the essential role of welcoming participants, directing them to tables of eight, and guiding the conversation that occurs. Do not be intimidated! We have designed fun and simple processes for helping strangers connect and tell stories.

We are asking all Table Hosts to participate in one of the online training options below, so everyone is comfortable in their role.

Two Options For Training
Option 1) Live Online Training
  • Wednesday, September 6, 12:00 PM - Live Online Training
  • Sunday, September 10, 5:00 PM -  Live Online Training
  • Tuesday, September 12, 5:30 PM - Live Online Training
  • Friday, September 15, 12:00 PM - Live Online Training
Option 2) Recorded Training
After September 8 - Download a recording at WeAreLouisville.org of the training and listen at your convenience.
We are each integral to the creation and success of this event and this work. Thank you for being part of The Big Table!

Volunteer Opportunities

Greeters / Area Hosts: help orient participants as they arrive, and be in charge of a grouping of tables during the event (you can still participate too!)

Set up / Tear down Help: Arranging tables and chairs, tablecloth/napkins/utensils on each, signage, etc.
