HELLO ART LOGOBKD

Hello Art First Friday Reception & Trolley Tour
Sponsored by BKD, LLP

You're invited to join us for Hello Art's August First Friday Reception and Trolley Tour.

  • Meet one of Kansas City's most accomplished artists, Mike Lyon, and take a tour of his spectacular three-story art studio filled with highly detailed, large scale drawings, paintings, and woodblock prints. In addition to being an artist, Mike also considers himself an experimenter, scientist, engineer, art collector, inventor, entrepreneur, musician, and an athlete. After one visit to his studio, you'll understand why!
  • Enjoy complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres all evening.
  • Take a trolley tour to local studios and galleries. The trolley tour will run throughout the evening, with the first departure at 6:15 p.m. Stops include:
    • Imagine That! Studio - Explore this innovative creative arts studio for adults with developmental disabilities. The studio strives to provide individuals with the tools and materials to create art and the support to define themselves as artists. The studio is staffed by a team of trained artists that strive to integrate the studio into the larger art community. Each artist supported is encouraged to express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums and is given the opportunity to show and sell art on First Fridays.
    • Vulpes Bastille Artist Studios - Featuring As Honest As We Are, a solo exhibition by Kansas City based artist, Brandon Frederick. The exhibition includes photographs, sculpture, and video work relating to Frederick's journeys and meditations throughout the United States. Established in 2012, Vulpes Bastille is home to seven practicing visual artists. The property was procured by Caranne Camarena a KCAI alumn who has successfully transformed the once empty building. The building itself sits on the corner of Locust and 18th St. near Grinders.
    • W. 18th St. & Baltimore - Explore this internationally recognized stretch of The Crossroads Arts District, featuring some of the areas best boutiques, artist studios and galleries.

Following the trolley tour, feel free to return to the reception for a nightcap.

Space is limited. Please register by August 1.

IMPORTANT PARKING/ENTRY INFORMATION: Please enter through the back entrance at 2031 Washington, where limited surface lot parking is available for event guests. Street parking also is available throughout the area.
