What is the difference between a PAC and Conduit?

A Conduit is a political account sponsored by an association that can contribute to the WGA conduit, the money is put into your account and cannot be conributed without your authorization.  When a candidate receives a conduit contribution, your name and specific dollar amount is listed.

A Political Action Committee (PAC) is a group of people with common interestes who pool their financial resources to help elected candidates for public office.  Contribution from the PAC are determined based on recommendations from the PAC Committee and the contributors remainanonymous.

Corporate Contributions can be made to the WGA's Government Affairs Program. These donations are then contributed to campaign committees to cover their administrative costs.

Please Support the WGA Political Support Program.

Supporting the Wisconsin Grocers Association Political Support Program benefits retailers, warehouses, and vendors by ensuring that the grocery industry thrives and survives in a highly political and regulated environment.

When the WGA Political Support Program is strong, we have opportunity to help elect candidates that are pro-business and pro-grocery.

By helping to elect candidates that support our industry, we are better able to prevent harmful legislation that affects everyone's bottom line, for example:

     * Minimum Wage Indexing
     * Plastic Bag Bans/Bottle Mandates
     * General Tax/Business Issues
     * Regulatory Fees
     * Costly and time consuming regulations

In addition, the Political Support Program allows WGA to help elect candidates who will support and help pass laws that are BENEFICIAL to our industry, such as:

     * $75 million personal property tax exemption on machinery
     * Organized Retail Crime prevention
     * Wine Tasting & Beer Tasting laws

The Political Support Program is an integral part of WGA's total government affairs program and supports our effort to play an active role in the political process.
