Solid Waste Association of North America- Land of Lincoln April 2022 Dinner

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE & FORECAST: 2022 & 2023 

Walter Willis, Executive Director for the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), will moderate a discussion of bills awaiting the Governor’s approval for 2022 and legislation to expect in 2023. The dinner meeting speakers are Jen Walling, Executive Director at the Illinois Environmental Council, and Alec Laird, Vice President of Government Relations for IRMA.  Togther they will discuss the waste industry-related bills approved by the General Assembly in 2022 and provide insights into legislation that may be introduced in 2023, including an update on EPR packaging legislation being developed with input from their organizations and possible re-introduction of a partial food scrap landfill ban bill.  Jen Walling will provide an update on the status of the environmental justice bill as well (HB 4093).   

This will be an interactive conversation where questions are encouraged. If there are any specific topic areas you would like the speakers to discuss, please pre-submit your questions by April 11th to wwillis@swalco.org and we will make sure they are addressed. 

DETAILS 

On Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, the meeting will be held at Village Links of Glen Ellyn, 485 Winchell Way in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The meeting is open to non-members.  

A cash bar begins at 5:30 P.M. Please try to arrive by 6:15 P.M., as dinner will be served at 6:30 P.M. The presentation will start immediately following dinner. The cost for the event is $50.00 including a plated dinner.  

Please register by noon on Monday, April 18, 2022 using PayPal. Cancellations must be recieved no later than noon on Monday April 18, 2022 to avoid being chrarged the $50.00 regisration fee.
