About the Scholarship
A music scholarship is available for private lessons at the School of Fine Arts for students age 5-18. Recipients are expected to provide some musical services including: worship services and church and community events.

About our School
The School of Fine Arts offers quality education in the arts for children and adults. Its faculty consists of highly trained musicians, educators, and performers; such as pianists Julie Coucheron and Elizabeth Lamberth, vocalist Allegra Whitney, reed player Ricky Saucedo, violinist Patti Gouvas. We seek to provide opportunities that are both challenging and encouraging.
About Dr. George B. Wirth
As Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church (1990-2013), Dr. George Wirth was a strong supporter of the arts and expanded the role of fine arts in the life of our church. As a result of his devotion to this cause, First Presbyterian Church established the School of Fine Arts. The scholarship seeks to honor and sustain Dr. Wirth’s arts ministries by supporting young performing artists in their studies.
About this year’s Judges:
Dr. Nancy Elton has received critical acclaim for her performances as a solo piano recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician throughout the southeast and many areas of the U.S. Hailed as "...an artist capable of amazing fire and brilliance, she is a highly sought teacher in the Atlanta area. Her students have won numerous awards and honors, and have been accepted into the finest music schools in the country, including the Juilliard. Dr. Elton has served on the piano faculties of Georgia State University, the University of West Georgia, and the University of Georgia. She earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in both piano and vocal performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Jens Korndörfer is Director of Worship and the Arts and Organist at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta and teaches organ at Georgia State University. He graduated with top-honors from the CNSM in Paris, McGill University in Montreal, and the Oberlin Conservatory, was organist in residence at the Concert Hall Kitara in Sapporo (Japan) in 2005/06, and maintains a busy concert schedule on three continents. www.jenskorndoerfer.com
Ms. Julianne Lee has a distinctive career, both as a violinist and violist, appearing frequently as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.
Lee joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the 2017-18 season. She has toured with the Marlboro Music Festival as well as multiple international tours with the Australian Chamber Orchestra as guest principal violist.
She is the Second Violinist of the Johannes String Quartet, an ensemble who has performed commissioned works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Derek Bermel and William Bolcom.
She holds a bachelor's degree in both violin and viola performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and a Master's Degree from the New England Conservatory.
