Speakers:

Bill Muir is the President of Vectec, Inc., a for-profit organization which provides support in the areas of e- commerce education, research and internet marketing. The center, originially located at Christopher Newport University, also provides direct  technical assistance support to Virginia's small business community in the areas of website and database development. Mr. Muir has been affiliated with Vectec since its inception in 1994.

Mr. Muir has served on several statewide adivsory boards, task forces and commissions, including the Virginia General Assembly's Joint Commission on Science and Technology, the joint commission's Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, Virginia's Internet Technology Innovation Center, Southeastern Virginia Electronic Commerce Forum and the (Newport News) Mayor's Physician Task Force Initiative. Mr. Muir was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Governmental Administration with honors in 1994 from Christopher Newport University, Newport News, Virginia. 

John Peterson is of counsel and member of the ESOPs & Employee Benefits, Business Taxation, Labor &   Employment, and Healthcare Practice Groups at Kaufman & Canoles. John has over 39 years of experience as both a practicing attorney and CPA in the areas of retirement plans and employee benefits. John has extensive teaching experience on ERISA matters, 25+ years as an adjunct professor at William & Mary Law School and 10+ years at Old Dominion University's Professional Financial Planning program. 

Legislative Speakers:

Members of the General Assembly will be in attendance and give their views on the hot topic issues currently affecting the Commonwealth. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to network with legislators to voice concerns and express the biggest challenges to running their business.
