WSA Fall Association Meeting 2018 

Our WSA Fall Association meeting is coming up soon! It's October 23-24, WA at the Red Lion Hotel in Wenatchee. We have a great lineup with more to come!

We're starting a new inititative, where we bring together component specialists or staff with specific intererests for ongoing community discussion and training.  Our first (and our guinea pig!) will be Family Support specialists, so October 24 will be a special one-day meeting for folks in those sorts of jobs to get together and learn from each other and plan future training and collaboration.

We have a lot going on in both Olympia and DC that affect all our programs and parents, and you'll get the latest and be able to provide some meaningful help to the new Department of Children Youth and Families as we move forward on many exciting initiatives, including new licensing requirements, ECEAP expansion, and the potential for a new Early ECEAP 0-3 program and universal pre-k for families beyond ECEAP eligibility level.

The agenda includes:

• Steve Barnett, founder and co-director of the National Institute for Early Education Research.  Steve is a top national leader in pre-k research and has guided the development of many state pre-k programs.  

• Family Support Professional Learning Circle (All day 10/24, first in a series)

• Building Analytic Capacity: Strategies and Tools for Driving Quality, facilitated by Rick Mockler.  (All day 10/24) This will include a series of presentations and facilitated conversations on a variety of topics, including Improvement Science, Data Analytic Tools, Assessing Your Program's Data Capacity, and how to apply these to common HS/ECEAP issues like enrollment, health/disabilities, education, etc.

• Strengthening Families training for parents and staff, with Victoria Hilt

• Improving our work with Homeless Families, with Building Changes

• Early Math - how can we do a better job as programs and parents of getting kids school-ready in math?

• Parent advocacy and how together we can change the world for young children and their familes

• The latest on our exciting ECEAP legislative agenda and what's going on in Washington DC

Staff at Large:  This position is open to staff who are from an ECEAP, Head Start Migrant/Seasonal, AI/AN or Early Head Start program.

ECEAP Parent: This position is open to parents who are from an ECEAP program.

Head Start Parent:  This position is open to parents who are from a Hed Start program.

Head Start Staff: This position is open to staff of a Head Start program.

ECEAP Director: This position is open to a Director of a Head Start program.
