Join teams from schools across Texas for a three-day summit that will provide tools for building thriving community school efforts! Whether you are new to the idea of community schools or already have an effort underway, you’ll find helpful information, ideas and networking. Sponsored by Save Texas Schools, Austin Voices for Education and Youth, Austin ISD, Texas AFT.
What is a Community School?
Community Schools are neighborhood schools that bring together community partners, strong academics, student and family supports, out-of-school time programs and shared planning between parents, school and community to give students everything they need to be ready for college, career and life.
Summit Costs:
$300 per team (up to 10 members);
$95 individual registration.
(AISD individuals and teams are being funded separately. There is no registration fee.)
Materials and meals included (excluding Monday and Tuesday night dinner).
A number of hotels, including Courtyard by Marriot and Doubletree, are convenient to Webb MS.

Individuals can attend the summit, be we encourage schools and districts to send working teams. With much of the time given over to practical planning of a community school, your team of 5-10 members can include:

Following the close of the summit on June 15, you are invited to join a meeting of the Texas Community School Network from 12:30 to 3 pm. Participants from a number of locations around Texas will continue to discuss how we can support community school efforts across Texas.
