Nancy McKinstry Distinguished leader within the investment and community sectors and founding member of the Minerva Foundation for BC Women, Nancy has been awarded accolades which include, Honorary Doctorate degrees from Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Order of Canada, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Women in Finance and Vancouver’s 100 Most Powerful Women. Nancy currently sits of the Board of Directors of HSBC Bank Canada and Delta Hotels and Resorts.

 

Special Guest Speaker: Kennedy Baker

Kennedy Baker Kennedy Baker, an 18-year-old Vancouver Island University student, is a past Minerva Learning to Lead participant and this year’s winner of the Welch Leadership Challenge Award. As a budding philanthropist and courageous spokesperson for mental illness, Kennedy has received national recognition from the ‘Me to We’ organization, Canadian Living Magazine and Huffington Post.  After being faced with adversity beyond her control, she managed to determine her pathway in life and found a silver lining amongst the chaos. At the young age of 17, Kennedy founded her own non-profit organization, STAND, which helps Canadians living below the poverty line. 

About the Tribute Tree Campaign

The Minerva Foundation Tribute Tree is an annual campaign that allows you to honour a woman in your life. Purchase* a leaf ($500), a branch ($1000) or a trunk ($5000+) and someone you think is worthy of being recognized will be noted in our Tribute Tree. Your gift, along with a brief note on behalf of the woman you care about, will be posted on our website and printed in a full page ad in the Vancouver Sun on International Women’s day (March 8, 2014).

*Your Tribute Tree gift can be spread over a year as small monthly donations.
