On Monday, December 9, Rural Action is hosting a tour of successful Abandoned Mine Land reclamation and economic development projects in Southeast Ohio. We will be highlighting projects such as the Bailey's Trail System, the Monkey Hollow Limestone Doser, and an innovative technology that will convert acid mine drainage to paint pigment in Truetown, Ohio. Lunch at Eclipse Company Store in The Plains will be included.
Throughout the tour, we will be discussing an exciting opportunity that ties economic development to abandoned mine land reclamation. In each of the past three years Ohio has received 10 million dollars in PILOT funding. This money has been earmarked for projects that will help to bring economic vitality to historic mining communities, while reclaiming abandoned mine land features.
This is a free tour with an included lunch; however, registration is required. Click below to register and join us on this tour!
