Join us for a fall harvest celebration at the WIC Community Garden! This is a come-and-go event that’s free and open to the public. The Pop-up Market Includes garden tours, recipe testing to highlight seasonal produce and of course attendees can pick up fresh organic vegetables to take home from the market stand. Recipes and available market produce will highlight a mix of summer and fall veggies, i.e. sweetpotatoes, butterhead lettuce, radishes, kale, broccoli, cabbage, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. Extension Master Food volunteers will be on site to demonstrate and provide samples for several healthy and delicious sweetpotato recipes.
The WIC Community Garden is collaborative project led by Johnson County Extension and Dept. of Health and Environment. The garden aims to educate, empower and feeds clients in the Johnson County WIC nutrition program (Women, Infants and Children) along with other community members experiencing food insecurity.
