Topic: New Campus West Underpass to CSU Campus

Footings and Walls on the West Side of Shields

Ditesco and Connell Resources teamed with Colorado State University to create a “signature gateway” to the university from the nearby “Campus West” shopping center. This $8.8 million design/build underpass and trail project provided critical pedestrian and cyclist access to the main campus, and improved traffic, pedestrian safety, and congestion in the area. This project included concrete box culvert installation, extensive shoring, excavation, dewatering, trail and structural wall construction, site amenities, as well as roadway and drainage improvements.

Throughout the design and construction phases, this project required extensive coordination with the City of Fort Collins, Colorado State University, and neighboring stakeholders.

The underpass included enhancements needed in the area, such as improved intersection operation, increased safety, and decreased travel times. The team also carefully designed the project to create intentional gathering spaces and to improve relationships between the surrounding businesses. The design team was thoughtful in creating a space that was both functional and accomplished Colorado State University’s vision for a “signature gateway”.

Keith Meyer, P.E. – Owner, Ditesco

Keith is the owner of Ditesco and brings over 23 years of experience in the engineering and construction fields. His experience spans engineering, project, program, and construction management for projects including roads, bridges, heavy civil/complex utilities, civic areas, and buildings. He has been working closely with CSU for close to ten years, and is well-versed in CSU’s project delivery strategies. Keith has worked on well over $300 million in built infrastructure across Colorado. He has been recognized as a hardworking, thorough, proactive, team-oriented manager.
