...Meditation in Motion

An Experience of the Ashtanga System under the Light of Breath Awareness and Spinal Anatomy with Dylan Bernstein.

 August 27 & August 28

  •  4-sessions/10-hours
  •  First session begins : 8am
  •  Second Session begins: 2pm

- 1st morning: Ashtanga primary series class integrating meditative techniques (3 hours)

The first morning begins by building a solid fundation of breath awareness. We'll experiment with different classical approaches to meditation and pranayama and their direct application within sun salutations. A deep exploration of Ashtanga primary series follows.  Participants will learn an integrated method that will serve them in any other yoga practice.

- 2nd morning:  Ashtanga primary series integrating Applied Spinal Anatomy in Backbending (3 hours)

This practice aims to consciously open the length of the spine. We'll bring awareness to the features and function of the vertebral column and related anatomy. After a complete Ashtanga practice, Dylan will guide specific techniques to discover and refine methods for safe and rewarding backbending. Poses from Primary and Second will be explored in addition to some interesting modifications.

- The afternoon sessions: Details of Ashtanga alignment and Pranayama (2 hours each day)

Discover the precise movements and positions that exist within the Ashtanga flow. Efficiency of movement and its impact on energy management will be highlighted. This awareness will serve other styles of yoga practice. A traditional Pranayama sequence will be taught.

**The Cost to attend both days of the retreat : $90                *To attend only one day of the retreat : $50

All about Dylan:  Dylan Berstein was introduced to Yoga & Zen meditation in 1988.  Over the last 23 years, he has called upon the practice to engage the body, still the mind and study the soul.  Lifelong interests in Asian philosophy, religion and poetry have inspired him to leave American soil and live all over Asia.  During one of the years in India, he encountered Ashtanga Yoga and was trained to teach.  Since then, he has been lucky enough to study under the world's senior Ashtanga teachers.  Dylan now spends half the year running a Mysore program at Pure Hong Kong and the rest of the year, he leads retreats, workshops and intensives around the globe!  Don't miss this great opportunity to study at Shangrila with this accomplished yogi!
