Come learn how to better respond to disasters with the love of Christ.

North Texas was surrounded by several disasters last year; the plant explosion in West TX, tornados in Granbury TX, Moore OK, and Reno OK.  Countless lives were ripped apart during these disasters.  In the midst of this chaos and pain, the church has an incredible opportunity to share the love of Christ in word and deed.  As 1 John 4:19 says “We love because He first loved us.”

Perhaps your congregation has responded to disasters in the past. Perhaps members wanted to, but didn't know how.  The needs during a disaster are great, and we can do more by partnering together.

To better prepare ourselves to respond to disasters, we are hosting a Disaster Response Training Workshop, led by Pastor Merritt of LCMS Disaster Response.  At this workshop the focus will be on post-disaster field work training to include:

  • Debris Clean-up
  • Muck Out
  • Tarp & Patch

Completion of the training will also enable participants to become certified as part of a Lutheran Emergency Respons Team (LERT) if they haven't already, credentials which can help individuals/groups gain access to a disaster site and network with local officials.

Please consider joining us for this training on May 17th from 8:30am – 4:30pm.  Doors will open at 8am for sign-in and payment at the door.  To register, click the "Register Now" button to the left.  Participants must be 16 years or older.  Cost is $35/person and covers training materials, coffee/bagels and lunch.  Please note that payment can only be made  at the door on the day of the event.

Childcare is available upon request.
