WELCOME to the official webpage of the 10th Anniversary Conference: Breast Cancer and African Americans (BCAA) hosted and sponsored by the Stanford Cancer Institute's Office of Cancer Health Equity and Community Engagement (SCI-OCHECE)! We are pleased to host our tenth annual event virtually due to the ongoing public health considerations in place regarding large indoor gatherings. The purpose of BCAA is to help eliminate breast cancer disparities in Black/African American populations in the Greater SF Bay Area and surrounding communities through the dissemination of high quality, timely and culturally-tailored cancer information and resources.

Recent studies show that Black women in the U.S. are diagnosed at younger ages, at later stages, and with more aggressive forms of breast cancer, in addition to having higher death rates than white women from the disease.  Join us for an informative dialogue with clinicians, health professionals, researchers, cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates, and other key stakeholders. We have a wonderful lineup of speakers and sessions covering the spectrum of breast health and cancer including, but not limited to breast self-awareness; breast cancer risk; early detection; nutrition/healthy eating; physical activity; treatment and clinical trials research; survivorship; stress management; and advocacy.

2021 BCAA Conference highlights include
:

  • Distinguished speakers and health experts representing the diverse knowledge and expertise within
the Black/African American community on breast cancer and health/wellness
  • Discussion of the latest breast cancer topics, including the impact of COVID-19
