Exploring the Racial Wealth Gap

In this workshop, teachers will examine the data surrounding the racial wealth gap and will explore strategies that their students may implement to begin to build generational wealth. Dr. Matthew Martin, economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, will present data surrounding the racial wealth gap for teachers' knowledge.

Priority will be given to teachers who serve in Title 1 schools or in schools where >50% of the student population qualifies for free/reduced cost meals.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as a $125 stipend or sub pay reimbursement for teachers who attend the entire session. 

The session will be presented in person. Please come prepared to participate in discussions and activities. There is no cost to attend but space is limited so register today!

  • Certificates for 7 hours of high-quality professional development will be provided.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • A $125 stipend or substitute pay will be provided for teachers who attend the entire session. 
  • Activities are aligned to NC Essential Standards in Social Studies and CTE.
  • Activites are interactive and hands-on.
  • Access to web-based resources with thousands of lesson plans and interactive resources will be provided.
  • NCCEE will provide lessons and activities that provide strategies for building wealth to take back to your students.
  • There will be a Q&A panel with finance industry professionals. Please be prepared to ask a question or two regarding personal finance concepts.
