Kiewit CTA Blue Line Presentation

In 2022, The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) began a major program to rehabilitate the Congress branch of the Blue Line. This corridor had not seen any significant improvements since originally built in the 1950s and connects downtown Chicago to the west side along I-290. In 2022, Kiewit was the apparent bid winner on this $105 million dollar project to rebuild the first section of track between the IMD station and UIC-Halsted. The project was awarded March 1, 2023 with a planned full shutdown of the blue line in July; just four months later. This presentation will provide an overview of the project, its challenges, and successes encountered.
