As part of the HealthInsight sponsored Patient Centered Care in Action - Learning and Action Network educational sessions, HealthInsight presents a Motivational Interviewing Training by Brad Lundahl, Ph.D. 

 

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based treatment that addresses ambivalence to change. It is a conversational approach designed to help people identify their readiness, willingness, and ability to change and to make use of their own change-talk.

 

Objectives:
  • Discuss strategies to increase patient's intrinsic motivation to change behavior
  • Discover tactics to decrease resistance for change in behavior
  • Practice strategies for promoting a working partnership between the patient and healthcare provider

 

This training will be a two-part training session on September 12th and September 26th. The second session will build off the first, so the same participant must attend both sessions.Seating is limited so Register TODAY!

 

 

Session Details:

Includes a Review of:

 

Session one: Sept. 12th

Duration: 3 hours

The session will start with an introduction to Motivational Interviewing and then move on to

discuss strategies to increase patient's intrinsic motivation to change behavior.

Session 2: Sept. 26th

Duration: 3 hours

This session will discuss tactics to decrease resistance for change in behavior. Then, Dr. Lundahl will discuss strategies for promoting a working partnership between the patient and healthcare provider.

Brad Lundahl, Ph.D, Professor at the University of Utah's College of Social Work

 

Dr. Lundahl has received training in motivational interviewing from Bill Miller (the founder of the method) and is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers organization. He has lectured extensively to medical providers on how to apply this technique in patient care.
