Demystifying Websites & SEO

Don’t know CSS from PHP? You say your site’s fallen on it’s .ASP and you don’t know what to do? Does it seem like Google’s plotting against you? If you answered yes, then this workshop is for you. If you don’t  have a clue what SEO stands for, you might want to register for this workshop, too.

Demystifying Websites & SEO isn’t about learning code, HTML or even design. It’s about learning the core concepts of Web design, the development process, the lingo and what’s happening under the hood with search engine optimization (SEO – See? You learned something already). With this knowledge in hand, you’ll be able to clearly communicate with your Web designer and/or developer, become proactive in the process and function of your site and avoid common pitfalls. If you plan to build your site yourself, what you learn in this workshop will save you a lot of time and potential aggravation.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll learn:

  • What you need before you start to build a site
  • What all these acronyms stand for and what they mean
  • Current trends in site design
  • Getting from idea to site launch – the design & development process
  • Researching and understanding your audience
  • Copywriting for the Web – it’s different than writing a brochure
  • The ins and outs of Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Best practices in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Blogs and popular blog apps
  • Putting it all together
