A “Hands-On” Experience to Understand the Exciting World of
Health Care Management

Offered by the Health Administration Department of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the summer institute provides students with the opportunity to learn about careers within the rapidly growing field of health care administration.

The five day schedule includes:

  • Interactive presentations by working health care administrators, faculty and student alumni;
  • Participation in simulation activities focused on understanding the vital role administrative leaders play in today's burgeoning health care system;
  • A 'behind-the-scenes' exploration of community health facilities and the Hahnemann Medical Center hospital and clinics.

The Health Services Administration curriculum provides a solid foundation in general management and economic principles related to health care, as well as an understanding of the administrative structure, operations and policies of the health care industry.  One of the unique aspects of the program is the Co-op work experience which gives students the opportunity to work in a variety of health care settings as part of their education.  With this experience, students learn first-hand what their chosen careers offer.  Upon graduation, our students are well prepared for a wide range of administrative or managerial healthcare positions.
